From my September Nightstand I read:
- Daniel Plainway: Or The Holiday Haunting of the Moosepath League by Van Reid (review)
- The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy - Reading this made me do some research since I can see how Baroness Orczy influenced Georgette Heyer's writing. (review)
- We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea by Arthur Ransome (review)
- Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World by Ken Ham & Steve Ham - I just finished reading and one word comes to mind--convicting.
- Upgrade: 10 Secrets to the Best Education for Your Child by Kevin Swanson - Excellent read on educating your children with a biblical foundation no matter how you choose to educate.
- George Washington: True Patriot by Janet & Geoff Benge (review)
- The Five Red Herrings by Dorothy Sayers - I could have done with about two red herrings. It got confusing after awhile!
- At Home in Dogwood Mudhole by Franklin Sanders (review)
- One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Agatha Christie - Another one down as I work my way through Poirot's mysteries.
See what others have read over at 5 Minutes for Books.
Scarlet Pimpernel is on my Classics Club list. One day I hope to get to it, but I'll look forward to your review. I love literary connections!
ReplyDeleteOrczy influenced Heyer? Huh!
ReplyDeleteI'm not reading your review of the Moosepatch League because SOMEDAY I'm going to read it myself! I have to start the series all over again though 'cause it's been way too long.
I love your whole list. The whole entire thing. Marking Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World on my wishlist.
Upgrade sounds worth reading! I'm checking out Moosepatch review now!
ReplyDeleteI did add The Scarlet Pimpernel to my to-read list so I feel I've made progress. :) Upgrade and Raising Godly Children both sound like meaningful reads.
ReplyDeleteThe movie of The Scarlet Pimpernel with Jane Seymour and Anthony Andrews is one of my all-time favorites, though it is different from the book. I read the book years ago and was just thinking of listening to the audiobook of it soon.
ReplyDeleteThe Ham books sounds really good.
I had no idea the author of The Scarlet Pimpernel (which I still have not read!) influenced Heyer. I love Heyer's books - she is a great writer.
