The Homeschool Mother's Journal: Random 5 on Friday

The Pebble Pond

Oct 19 Collage
 1. Jonagold apples. 2. Delani helping out. 3. Putting Shade to work.
4. First batch of applesauce. 5. Apple crisp. 6. New books!
7. Embroidering a towel. 8. Finished towel.
9. Ants, where they don't belong!

Again, it is really Saturday, but here are my random thoughts.

1. Apples, apples, apples--we bought 150 lbs. of apples and have been busy canning, freezing, and making desserts and we still have more to go!

2. In the midst of all of this the pesky ants decided to invade my pantry. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. Right now all of our pantry is sitting in boxes on the kitchen floor. It makes for some interesting moments!

3. Tuesday was a car-schooling day. Since Destini had a piano lesson we headed up early to Portland for haircuts. We also stopped at my favorite haunt--Exodus Books! Destini and Chantry had read 25 books for their summer reading program and both had received a $15 dollar gift certificate. Chantry picked out Lonely Sentinel by Piet Prins and The Boy Knight G.A. Henty. Destini picked The Saturdays and Four-Story Mistake by Elizabeth Enright. (Kind of unbelievable that we don't own this series yet, though I rave about them.)

4. I pulled out my trusty rusty hand embroidery skills and embroidered a towel for my review of The Homemaker's Mentor Lesson Library CD. Head on over and read more about it here and don't forget to enter the Giveaway and win one CD for yourself!!

5. Speaking of apples--have you ever watched the The Apple Dumpling Gang ? The "fight" scene is not to be missed!!

  4. Jonagold apples are delicious! Yum!

Having suffered through a maddening infestation of tiny fruit flies, I can sympathize with your ant problem.
