Here is a list of books I read in February:

The Potluck Club - Linda Evans Shepherd/Eva Marie Everson
The Potluck Club Trouble's Brewing - Linda Evans Shepherd/Linda Marie Everson
The Web of Life - Richard Louv
The Perfect Match - Susan May Warren
A Door in the Wall - Marguerite de Angeli
Persuasion - Jane Austen
The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield
Ekaterina - Susan Downs/Susan May Warren

My reading was very low this month. It took me awhile to get through "Persuasion". I also started Northanger Abbey a couple of weeks ago and am still only half way through. Next month I hope to have completed more. My bedstand is stacked with books.

Birthday Card

The card I made for my nephew's birthday.

Spring????

I walked out of the house the other day to see the first signs of spring. Now I don't really believe spring is coming, but after living in Oregon for the last couple of years I have come to believe that spring can be non-existant. For some reason though the flowers seem to love it. It has also been predicted that it is to snow on Monday and Tuesday. So for now I'll stay wrapped up indoors and let the flowers fend for themselves.

Book Review: Open House for Butterflies

Today we read the book "Open House for Butterflies" by Ruth Krauss. At first I was kinda puzzled by the book until I realized it really is just a collection of little saying that kids would enjoy. Here are some the we enjoyed:

"A baby is so you could be boss"

"Loveabye is a good word to know"

"A good way to get yourself to bed is yell All aboard for bed!" (In the corner is an illustration of a little girl yawning with a saying next to it "I always go to bed after my bedtime" which very accuratly describes Destini.)

"A good thing to know is what a punch in the nose feels like in case somebody asks Do you want a punch in the nose?"

And Chantry's favorite:

"A good thing not to be is a plant because someone might think you are a weed and pull you up by the roots"
Chantry then suggested we need to buy this and I quite agree.

My surprise!

Shade really surprised me this Valentine's Day. He got the Mother and Daughter Willow Tree figurine for me. This was totally unexpected. I had figured flowers or candy but he fooled me. He truly outdid himself.

If at first you don't succeed ...

Caleb had the saying "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." for his dictation this week. For some reason this saying has really impressed him and I've heard him saying it over and over. I happened to overhear this conversation between Caleb and Chantry today:

Caleb: "Chant, how does this end? If at first you don't succeed....

Chantry: "You don't quit!"

I know he didn't say it right, but he sure had the message down!
