Christianity Cove is resource that offers lesson ideas, games, and tips for Sunday School teachers. I recently was able to review two of their products: The Divine Dozen: 12 Parables of Jesus Every Child Should Know and The Lord's Prayer Lesson Pack.

The Divine Dozen: 12 Parables of Jesus Every Child Should Know contains the parables of The Good Samaritan, The Pharisee and the Publican, The Faithful Servant, The Wheat and the Tares, The Ten Maidens, plus 7 others. This would work well for ages 5-12.

Each lesson starts with a "Lesson Capsule" which explains what the lesson is and how it applies to us today, then it goes into the parable which gives the scripture verse in the NIV, but any version of the Bible may be used. Then there is a list of materials that are needed for each lesson and a quick list of what you will need to do to prepare for the lesson. At the end of each lesson is an activity the helps reinforce the lesson.

The Lord's Prayer Lesson Pack focuses on the importance of real prayer, how to pray to God sincerely, memorization tips, and more. It contains 14 different ways to teach The Lord's Prayer which contains two object lessons, two games, three crafts, songs, two snack projects, two worksheets, a science and meditation lesson. These would work great with 9-14 year olds.

I received these lesson in a downloadable PDF format. We used some of these lesson in our home school, but a majority of them were used in a Sunday School Class. (This is what happens when your mom is over the Sunday School at church!)

The Parables we did during our Bible time at home were used with all my kids, from 5-17. Since these are created for a Sunday School class we had to make some small adjustments. The lessons have a very modern take and an assumption that your child is in a school setting. So while the message was important the application didn't always apply to our situation.

I also used The Parables and The Lord's Prayer lesson in our church's Sunday School class. We are a very small church so these were very convenient for us to use. Many of The Parable lessons were used to enhance curriculum we were already using.

We also did a full lesson on The Lord's Prayer and used many of the different activities to teach The Lord's Prayer. We blew up balloons to show the importance of prayer. My son and I did a small skit that showed the importance of sincere prayer. The kid's also worked and putting The Lord's Prayer in proper order and then topped off the lesson with Oreo cookies that were used to illustrate how prayer is like the icing of the cookie and and brings us together with God. That was just one lesson and I had a whole pile of other activities I could use the following week.

I keep our Bible time at home pretty simple, so I found these lessons to be doable, yet a little more than what I prefer. I really liked these for a Sunday School Class and found them to be great a stand alone lessons or as a supplement to other lessons.

The Divine Dozen: 12 Parables of Jesus Every Child Should Know is available in PDF format ebook for $24.00 and The Lord's Prayer Lesson Pack is available in PDF format for a special low price of $19.99.
