The Birthday Boy!
In my life this week…Well after Caleb's Boy Meets Baseball incident we have had an interesting two weeks. Since Caleb had to be very careful not to cause a re-bleed in his eye, he had to take it easy for the next five days. All activity was cut out and he had free reign to watch films all day long. Needless to say, I had an incredibly bored kid on my hands. This incident also required the younger kids to step up to the plate and do his chores and be mom and dad's helpers. That caused a little grumbling and complaining, but I think it was for the best. Mom and Dad realized how much they are capable of!
We started this week with Caleb and Destini having to take their achievement tests required for state law. Caleb had been allowed to take this, since by this time he had been upgraded to light activity.
Tuesday was Chantry's 10th birthday. Also, he was blessed to have his newest cousin, Natalie Danielle, born on his birthday. We celebrated by going out to Famous Dave's and he received one of his presents (The Adventures of Tintin DVD). I had a minister's wives gathering to attend so I had to journey down the road later that evening.
On Wednesday we hosted a birthday party for Chantry for friends and family. We grilled hamburgers & hot dogs, chips, baked beans, pasta salad, and of course a homemade chocolate cake topped with Rolos.
On Thursday Caleb and I headed back to the ophthalmologist where he was cleared to do all activity including baseball! Later we went to Destini's piano lesson. Her piano teacher is going to be gone for the month of July so she gets a little bit of a breather.
Friday and Saturday I spent attending the OCEANetwork homeschool convention. My husband was able to go with me on Saturday which was a nice treat. I always find these so encouraging and of course, I came home with too much!
I am inspired by…
Our homeschool convention. One of my favorite speakers was Heidi St. John--a very down to earth homeschool mom.
My favorite thing this week was…
Receiving the news that Caleb could go back to all normal activity. We had thought that baseball was probably over for him this season, but he will be able to finish the season.
Things I’m working on…
My house--The whole thing received a good cleaning due to having the rental management company come to do their yearly inspection. It needed cleaning for Chantry's party, but I hadn't planned on such a thorough one. Now if I can keep it spic and span until my parents come for a visit in August I will be doing good. (I know--wishful thinking, but it was a wonderful thought while it lasted.)

All the support that is out there for homeschoolers.

I can sure relate to the "busy, busy"! Sounds like a great week though and that cake looks so good to me! Wish I could taste a piece. :)
