Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Should be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
•Grab your current read
•Open to a random page

•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The Five Red Herrings (The Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries) by Dorothy Sayers
Sir Maxwell Jamieson was not a man to rush into precipitate action. Sound and cautious, with a reputation for taciturnity, he preferred to know exactly where he stood before committing himself to stirring up a scandal by vexatious inquiries. He was not over-pleased to find Wimsey palpitating on his doorstep the next morning, shortly after breakfast, when he himself had barely had time to read the paper. p. 52

  1. Hi Beth,

Sorry if I am being a little patriotic and biased, but as a Brit, I just love the descriptive language and long forgotten words, used in your teaser lines this week.

Yes, no-one here actually speaks like this on a regular basis any more, but in the golden age of Dorothy Sayers and Lord Peter Wimsey, this would have been everyday conversation.

I haven't read any Sayers books for many years, however I always follow any Lord Peter Wimsey adventures, whenever they are aired on television.

Thank you for the memories and I hope that you enjoy the book.

    Yvonne

  2. Ah, I see you are still making your way through Sayers' works. One of these days I will get round to reading more of her books as well. Thanks for visiting!
