So that brings me to June. We are still trying to finish up school work and we also are looking forward to my parents coming for a long visit and my in-laws are also going to be visiting. I'm sure we will be pretty busy, since life never lets up even when you have visitors! I'm keeping my list short since I may not have much time for reading.
For June:
From April's Nightstand I read:
- Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent - This was a great read about mentoring other Christian women as they cross your path.
- Birds, Beasts, and Relative by Gerald Durrell - I came across The Durrells in Corfu on Amazon Prime and started watching it. Needless to say I found it quite vulgar and honestly couldn't remember many of the things portrayed in the show in the books. Since I had read My Family and Other Animals a few years ago I checked this book out to see if my memory was failing me. I found the book a way more enjoyable.
- The Code of the Woosters by P.G. Wodehouse - A little Wodehouse is always a good thing.
- The Devil's Novice by Ellis Peters - Another Brother Cadfael mystery.
I also read:
- The Baker's Daughter by D.E. Stevenson - I found this Stevenson novel quite a disappointment.
- The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien - I have been reading this aloud off and on for over a year to my kids. I liked the book, but it was a hard read-aloud. So far no one in our family are big Tolkien fans.
- The Road Back to You: The Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery by Ian Morgan Cron & Suzanne Stabile - Now this was an interesting read. I love to read about personalities and have heard quite a bit about the Enneagram. This was a great introduction.
- The Time Mom Met Hitler, Frost Came to Dinner, and I Heard the Greatest Story Every Told: A Memoir by Dikkon Eberhart - I found this book by browsing Gospel E-books Kindle deals. The title caught my eye and I actually found out that my library had it. Surprisingly I found this a very compelling read about the son of a famous author who went searching for himself and found God.
I listened to:
See what others have read over at 5 Minutes for Books.
- All Things Bright and Beautiful by James Herriot - You never can go wrong with a James Herriot book and Timothy Christopher shines as narrator!
Yikes—sorry to hear that your son had such a horrible accident! But praise God that he’s okay. Wow. I’m sure that scared you tremendously. Good to hear you read The Road Back to You as well. Did you decide what number you are? I’ve gone back and forth between thinking I'm either 1 or 5, but I think I’m settling on 5. :)
