What's On Your Nightstand - June

June--really? Well, on to my reading. I had a pretty good month considering that I had guests. I did make it through quite a bit of reading though I didn't quite get every book on my Nightstand read. July is another busy month so I'm going to pick just a few for my Nightstand and pick and choose throughout the rest of the month what I want to read.

For July:

From last month's Nightstand post I read:

• Finding Your Purpose as a Mom by Donna Otto - Nothing profound. 
• Chicken Every Sunday: My Life with Mother's Boarders by Rosemary Taylor - I found this title when I read When Books Went to War by Molly Guptill Manning. This was a cute story.
• Inklings by Melanie M. Jeschke - Ummm, different. Written by a homeschool mom with a heavy focus on courtship and no kissing until they were married. Not that any of that is bad, but between everything else in the story I spent quite a bit of time rolling my eyes. 

Currently reading:

• Real Learning: Education in the Heart of the Home by Elizabeth Foss

I also read:

• Fit to Burst: Abundance, Mayhem, and the Joys of Motherhood by Rachel Jankovic - Very enjoyable and uplifting book. This is a book for any mom in the midst of raising kids.
• Transforming Children Into Spiritual Champions: Why Children Should be the Church's #1 Priority by George Barna - Well, while I agree with the title I found the actual contents of the book confusing with too much focus on research and not enough on how to get to that point, but since Barna is a researcher I guess I should have expected that.
• The Bachelor Girl's Guide to Murder by Rachel McMillan - A fun little read, though there were parts that were kind of unbelievable. (Really, who edits these stories?)
• Be Still my Soul by Joanne Bischof - I liked this story though I can't put my finger on why. I guess I was just in need of a purely fluffy read.
• The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey - I finished this up as a read-aloud with my older kids. This is my second time reading this novel and I found it just as interesting as the first time.
• The Precious One by Marisa de los Santos - I actually enjoyed this story more than I thought, though there was some bad language in it which I could have done without.

I listened to:

• Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis - Continuing on with the Chronicles of Narnia which I am still enjoying.
• Country Days by Alice Taylor - I came across this audio book as a discard from the library and thought I would try it out. Just a simple book of stories from the author that lives in Ireland which I found enjoyable. Honestly, just listening to the brogue of the narrator was pure heaven.
