The Homeschool Mother's Journal - Finished (Almost)!

June 14 Collage
1.Chantry finished up math & spelling. 2. Yeah! Caleb has finished Geometry.
3. Delani is learning how to swing. She almost has it figured out.
4-6. Baseball, baseball, baseball.
7-8. My purchases from the used curriculum sale.

In my life this week...
This week I worked hard at getting things back into shape. I did a lot of ironing and picking up, though I still have quite a bit left it did give me a feeling of accomplishment! Monday the kids had a make-up game for baseball and instead of going to work on Tuesday I went to a used curriculum sale. I didn't find anything on my list, but I found a few books that I had my eyes open for, plus one that I didn't. I also broke down a bought the Alpha-Phonics. I'm not sure what I'm going to use for Delani, but the price was right and I figured it will be used in some way or fashion. I went to work on Wednesday and after that all of were messed up on what day of the week it was. We finished the week with another baseball game!

In our homeschool this week…
The kids only have a few things left, but boy were they sure drawing them out. I finally put my foot down and told the boys that there work was to be finished up by Friday. So they did that.
Caleb finished up Math-U-See Geometry (woohoo!) and Practical Happiness by Bob Schultz. Chantry finished up Math-U-See Delta and Rod & Staff Spelling. Destini is the only one with just a biography and spelling to finish up.

Since I'm on TOS Review Crew we do have some reviews that we are working on:
-Classical Conversations Cursive - Prescripts Cursive Passages and Illuminations
and a few more.

The three older kids are signed up for Exodus Books Summer Reading Program and have been working on their reading for that. They also signed up for our local library's summer reading program.

We also finished reading Pigeon Post by Arthur Ransome. I will be reviewing this next week.

My favorite thing this week was…
Chantry was reading the Outside of a Dog Book List from Exodus Books and announced with great sarcasm, "Now that is a delightful title, My Brother Sam is Dead!"

Things I’m working on…
  • My ironing pile!
  • My curriculum list for next school year. I will be attending our state's homeschool convention this coming week.
  • I also put the Homeschool Helper app onto my iPad and started entering things for next school year. I'm not sure if I'm going to like this, but I'm trying.
I’m cooking…
This wasn't the week for cooking, but I did get a decent meal on the table on Friday: Tator-tot casserole, roasted green beans, brownies.

I'm reading...

I’m grateful for…
A godly dad and husband who is a great father to our kids.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
This picture is a couple of years ago, but here I am with my Dad.

  1. Yeah for finishing books. I have eyed Alpha-Phonics. I will probably end up getting it as we work our way through every phonics program waiting for it to click. I didn't know Exodus Books had a reading program. We are doing the one from Half Price Books.
