The Homeschool Mother's Journal - A Bittersweet Week

We started the week still enjoying time with my Mom. Destini completed her cross-stitch which had her very excited. My mom flew home Thursday and when I got home I found out the man who was the treasurer of the Friends' organization that I work for had died unexpectedly of a heart attack. After the tragic events that happened in Boston and in Texas this really took the wind out of my sails. It made me think of this scripture.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14
I've spent a lot of time thinking and praying trying to focus on the important things in life. I am truly thankful for this promise:
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Ps. 46:1

I am so blessed that my parents were able to come and visit and we had a wonderful time together making precious memories. God truly is good and I have so much to be thankful for!

So here is pictorial edition of all our activities:

  3. I'm sorry that the Friend leader died. I know that such untimely deaths can be so upsetting, especially with so much else going on in the world.

I LOVE the cross stitch. Your daughter did a great job!

I'm so glad you had a good visit with your parents!

  6. If your son likes Louis L'Amour books he (or you) may enjoy his memoir Education of a Wandering Man. I really liked it!
