What's On Your Nightstand - January

What's On Your Nightstand

In February, I plan to read:

From my December post I read:
Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit by Francis Chan
The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach: Bible Based Homeschooling by Robin Sampson
Kingdom's Dawn (Kingdom, Book 1) by Chuck Black
A Place of Quiet Rest: Finding Intimacy with God Through a Daily Devotional Life by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
Spiritual Parenting: An Awakening for Today's Families by Michelle Anthony
Tangled Web by L.M. Montgomery
The Time Garden by Edward Eager
Unwilling Warrior (Seasons of Redemption, Book 1) by Andrea Boeshaar

I also read:
Licensed for Trouble (PJ Sugar) by Susan May Warren
Stars Collide: A Novel (Backstage Pass) by Janice Thompson
Wildflowers of Terezin by Robert Elmer

I listened to:
First Light by Brock and Bodie Thoene
Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey
Today Matters: 12 Daily Practices to Guarantee Tomorrow's Success - John Maxwell

  1. You've got a busy life and do an interesting variety of reading. Wildflowers of Terezin is the one that interests me most. I'm off to check my library for it. And I'll be sure to come back for your thoughts on it.
I came over from 5 Minutes with Books as I do the Nightstand posts too. Have a good February.

  2. When do you listen to audiobooks? Do your children listen along? I have a hard time finding kid-free times to listen when the books I'm listening to are unfamiliar (so I'm not sure if the're 5 & 6 year old friendly).

I'm impressed by the volume of reading you do!

  3. Amy (if you check back here)--I put audiobooks on my ipod and listen to them that way when I'm cooking or cleaning. Listening to spoken text doesn't block them out, so I can still hear if there's a crisis or something :)

Beth--I haven't read an G. Heyer yet, but I've seen her around a lot.

  4. Great list! Love the variety. Raising a Modern Day Knight is a good book!

  5. Ohhh Cotillion looks really good. Happy reading!

  6. I LOVE A Tangled Web. I think it's one of Montgomery's more unique stories.

I didn't read Raising A Modern Day Knight but my husband did. Curious for your thoughts!

  7. I read Forgotten God recently as well. I thought Chan had a lot of great insight to share.

I am really looking forward to trying out the PJ Sugar series. It's been on my TBR list for a while, but I haven't had a chance to secure a copy yet.

You have excellent taste in books!

  8. Good books! Ihaven't read a G. Heyer yet either and feel "left out" - need to rectify that!

  9. Your titles are unfamiliar to me-- I hope you have an enjoyable month of reading!

  10. Hmmmm ... what is Tangled Web about? I just associated Montgomery with AofGG ... What a long and impressive list for a hs'ing mom!

  11. I LOVE Georgette Heyer--and have for years--but haven't read Cotillion.

I'm not much good at audiobooks--I'm too distracted, and audio is definitely not my learning style. However, with a bit of a commute, I've been listening to Jerry Bridges' The Pursuit of Holiness--which works well, since I go home and review in my printed copy of the book!
