The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff
(I despair of ever getting it through anybody's head I am not interested in bookshops, I am interested in what's written in the books. I don't browse in bookshops, I browse in libraries, where you can take a book home and read it, and if you like it you go to a bookshop and buy it.) p.73
Really? I never knew. I browse in bookshops. LOL.

Sounds a bit like semantics to me, but this sounds like a great book! A book about books :-)
ReplyDeleteThat comment perfectly encapsulates my feelings about bookstores and libraries. I can only trust myself in a bookstore if I already know I love the book. Otherwise there would be toppling piles of books everywhere at my house (well, there are anyway!). Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like, you can check out mine here.
I am a definite bookstore browser! Libraries sort of scare me because the librarians remember you sometimes which creeps me out, especially when they ask me about the books I'm borrowing. I freak out!

ReplyDeleteTeaser Tuesday: The Likeness by Tana French
I browse in bookshops all the time - why limit yourself to what the library bought and no one else has checked out yet! Good teaser, though.

What a great teaser...sounds like an interesting book. I love browsing bookstores, but do tend to get in trouble if I don't know specific books in mind to buy!
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser.
Love that teaser!
ReplyDeleteI browse in bookshops, looking for books to get at the library :) Always have a pen and paper along.
ReplyDeleteHERE is my teaser for this week.
ha ha good one, I'm with Audrey - browse bookstores to see what I want to get at the library.
ReplyDelete! Hope you're enjoying the book.
My TT is HERE
Yes, that is one of the great things about libraries. But I like to browse both places. Excellent teaser!

Try nefore I buy has always been my mantra, but I can't resist the bargain tables at a bookstore! Here's my teaser from Shiver.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love browsing in bookshops, but her theory makes sense, doesn't it?

I quite often browse at the library, and quite a few times I have read a library book and then had to go and buy the book!
ReplyDeleteMy teasers this week are here. Yes, there is more than one
I wish I had the problem of browsing libraries over bookshops! Great teaser.

I wish I used that technique. I start by buying the books. My teaser is from Legacies by Mercedes Lackey and Rosemary Edghill.
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser, though complete opposite of myself. If I read the book already, I probably wouldn't bother buying it. It would have to be pretty darn good.

As a writer I feel torn about this passage! But I guess I would be extremely flattered if she actually did go to the bookshop to buy my book...
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser. Here's mine: http://harrischanningauthor.blogspot.com/
Thank God for Borders, where I can sit and browse through books without the need to buy it if it turned out to be crappy. I'll look for this book in Borders soon...

I browse book shops and only take home the books that I know I want. Otherwise, library it is!
