Homeschool Mother's Journal: May 30-June 4, 2011

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…
Life was pretty sane this week. We had a wonderful Memorial Day and worked hard doing school work.

I had to get my license renewed this week and the DMV took the worst picture imaginable. I've only seen it in black and white and when I get my license I will probably cry. My opinion of the DMV is at an all time low and trust me, I didn't think it could get any lower!

In our homeschool this week…
We are still working hard getting our school work done. I was a mean mom and scheduled school on Memorial Day. (This is due to the fact that their dad does not get holidays off, so we treat it like a normal day.)

Chantry and Destini finished Pagoo and Seabird. Chantry also finished First Language Lessons Year 1.

Caleb is still working hard. What has me excited is he is getting his work done everyday and finishing up by early afternoon. I am going to start encouraging him to take some of his free time and read an extra chapter in his books so he can finish them earlier than scheduled.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Outside of baseball and church, we were at home.

My favorite thing this week was…
Memorial Day! Even though we did school work and Shade worked, we still had great time. By the time Shade got home, the sun had come out and the kids played outside for most of the afternoon and evening. We grilled chicken and hamburgers and had corn on the cob (the kid's favorite food) and finished off with Triple Chocolate Trifle for dessert.

What’s working/not working for us…
Everything is going great!

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…
A good Spanish course for highschoolers?? Any suggestions??

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
Getting ready to eat our Memorial Day dinner.
